Democracy Day is celebrated on October 25 in Brazil due to a historic event: the death of journalist Vladimir Herzog, which occurred on this date in 1975. Herzog was tortured and killed at DOI-CODI during the military dictatorship and his death became a milestone in the fight for the redemocratization of Brazil. Recently, the Inter-American Court of Human Rights condemned the Brazilian State for failing to investigate the circumstances of his murder.
Democracy is built with the participation of everyone, every day. That is why dialogue, tolerance and representation are so important, in order to defend a better reality for the entire country. Building a new Future!
