The VII Ibero-American Congress on Human Rights had its official opening this Tuesday (04/07). The opening ceremony was attended by Dr. Laurence Burgorgue-Larsen, Professor at the Faculty of Law of the University Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, and Dr. Javier García Medina, Dean of the University of Valladolid.

The first session of the congress featured a highly relevant debate on the theme “Dialogues between National and International Protection of Rights”. Several renowned experts participated in the debate, sharing their perspectives and knowledge. The participants included:

• Dr. Mariana Barbosa Baeta Neves Matsushita, from Mackenzie Presbyterian University.
• Dr. André de Carvalho Ramos, Regional Attorney of the Republic, Associate Professor at USP and Coordinator of the Stricto Sensu Postgraduate Program - Master's in Law at UNIALFA.
• Dr. Sergio Salinas Alcega, Professor of Public International Law at the University of Zaragoza.
• Dr. Angeles Solanes Corella, Professor of Philosophy of Law and Politics, researcher at the Institute of Human Rights (UV) and Vice-Chancellor of Permanent Training, Teaching Transformation and Employment at the University of València.

The presence of these experts demonstrates the importance of the congress and the relevance of the topics discussed, covering both the protection of rights at the national and international levels. The diversity of perspectives and experiences brought by the participants will certainly contribute to an enriching dialogue and to the advancement of the defense of human rights.

It is expected that throughout the subsequent days of the congress, there will be a broad exchange of knowledge and experiences, in addition to the presentation of research and studies that can positively impact the promotion and protection of human rights.
