HOW TO GET TO SIENA?
From Florence airport to Siena
From the airport, there is a public tram near arrivals, which takes you to the city center in about 20 minutes. More precisely, you have to stop at SSanta Maria Novella location (Florence train station). Tickets can be purchased from the automatic machines at the tram stop and cost 1.50 euros.
Alternatively, there is a check-in plaza at the airport arrivals. taxis, if you prefer to take a taxi to Stazione Santa Maria Novella. The trip costs around 22 euros.
Once at Stazione Santa Maria Novella, there are two options to get to Siena, by train or by bus.
1) If you prefer to go by train, there is a train regional train that connects Florence to Siena directly. Be careful when choosing a direct train. These trains usually leave every hour, from 6 am to 9:30 pm. Check the website from Trenitalia to find the timetables, the journey takes about 1h30 and costs 9.80 euros.
As it is a regional train, it is not necessary to buy it in advance; tickets can be purchased: 1) online, on the Trenitalia website; 2) at the Station, either at the automatic machines or at the Trenitalia offices.

2) If you prefer to go by bus, there is a public bus, from the regional company Autolinee Toscane, that connects Florence directly to Siena in about 1h10. The bus leaves from the Florence Bus Station, located in front of Stazione Santa Maria Novella (Firenze train station). The timetables can be found at website of Autolinee Toscane, in the Travel Planner section. There is a bus that runs every hour. We suggest choosing the “fast bus”, number 131R; there is also a “panoramic bus”, number 131, which connects Florence and Siena, but makes more stops and then takes longer. The trip costs: 8.40 euros.
It is not necessary to book the bus in advance; tickets can be purchased: 1) online, on the Autolinee Toscana website; 2) at the bus station, where there is a ticket office.

From Pisa airport to Siena
From the airport, there is a direct shuttle service that runs frequently and takes you to Pisa train station in 5 minutes (called PISA MOVER). The ticket costs 5 euros and can be purchased either online, like in the automatic machines at the station.
Once at the train station, you should take the train from Pisa to Siena, via Empoli (Pisa-Empoli + Empoli-Siena). There is at least one train every hour, from 5 am to 9:30 pm. Check the website from Trenitalia to find the timetables. The journey takes about 1h45 and costs 11.20 euros.

From BOLOGNA airport to Siena
From the airport, there is a bus direct that leaves every 7 minutes and arrives at Bologna train station in 8 minutes (called MARCONI EXPRESS). The ticket costs 11 euros and can be purchased either online at website, like in the automatic machines at the station.
Once at the train station, you have two options.
1) The best option is to get one bus direct from Bologna bus station (which is located in front of the train station) to Siena train station. The journey takes about 3 hours. Specifically, there are two companies that offer this route: ITABUS and FLIXBUS. Hours and prices vary depending on the day. You should check which solutions are most suitable for you on the companies' websites.

2) Another option would be to take the train from Bologna train station to Firenze. It is a fast train (FREQUENCY), the journey takes around 35 minutes. The time and price vary depending on the day; departures are very frequent, but if you buy your ticket in advance, the price is usually lower. You should check which solutions are most suitable for you in the websites. The ticket must be purchased on the Trenitalia website.

From ROMA FIUMICINO airport to Siena
At Rome Fiumicino Airport, there is a bus station train (located inside the airport). You have to take the train from there. There are three alternatives.
1) The best alternative is to take direct trains from Rome Fiumicino airport to Firenze (Santa Maria Novella). This would be the best solution, but it is not so common. It is a fast train (FREQUENCY), the trip takes around 2h20. The time and price vary according to the day; if you buy the ticket in advance, the price is usually lower, the ticket must be purchased at Trenitalia website.

2) A second alternative is to take the train direct train that connects Rome Fiumicino airport with Roma Termini (Rome's main train station). The journey takes 32 minutes, with scheduled departures every 15 minutes (called LEONARDO EXPRESS). The ticket costs 14 euros and can be purchased either online, such as in the automatic machines at the station. Once in Roma Termini, you must take a train to Firenze (Santa Maria Novella). It is a fast train (FRECCIA), the journey takes about 1h40. The timetable and price vary according to the day; departures are very frequent, but if you buy your ticket in advance, the price is usually lower.
